Lochwood Park
Charming Lochwood Park (12.3 acres) is the hub of the Lochwood neighborhood, providing a serene and picturesque destination, while offering a variety of natural and recreational attractions and activities for the community.
With its diverse range of plants and animals, Lochwood Park provides a unique opportunity to explore and appreciate the local ecology. The park features a multi-use, recreational playing field, basketball court, tennis and pickleball courts (multi-use, not dedicated), covered playground, pavilion with picnic tables, and fun walking trails along Dixon Branch Creek. We have many community events at the park, such as movie nights, Easter egg hunts, and holiday celebrations.
The Beautification Committee is made up of volunteering neighbors responsible for the beautification of our neighborhood and community. This committee maintains our neighborhood flower beds at the Lake Highland Dr. and Fernald Ave. entrance, and the Lochwood Park monuments. Our Beautifcaiton Chair is Hilary Killam. If you would like to help her with plantings, etc., please email info@lochwood.com
The Clean the Green is our organized, neighborhood trash pick-up community event held twice a year in the Spring and Fall. We rendezvous at Lochwood Park on Saturday mornings, hand out trash grabbers, bags and latex gloves and disperse to clean up our designated area. Coffee, bottled water and doughnuts are usually provided for the participants. We’ll inform our neighbors when the next CTG will be through the LNA Facebook Group, on Nextdoor/Lochwood, and a Lochwood Post email.
Friends of Lochwood Park
The Friends of Lochwood Park formed in 1983 so that the surrounding community take greater responsibility to nurture Lochwood Park. Our mission is to help families and friends enjoy the benefits of the park. Lochwood Park does not support team or league play - only casual recreational play.
Please follow the Friends of Lochwood Park Facebook group.
Lochwood Pickleball Group
The LPG is place for neighbors and friends in or out of Lochwood to meet and coordinate to play pickleball at Lochwood Park. We have 2 (multi-use) courts. We are very beginner-friendly, inclusive, and encourage participation with anyone that wants to play - whatever their skill level. Please join the Lochwood Pickleball Facebook group. If not on Facebook, please email info@lochwood.com to see what other options there are to join the group and stay informed.
Lochwood Park Improvements
Every few years, City Hall issues a Capital Bond Program to help with city improvements. Parks & Recreational Facilities is one of the recipients of the Bond Program. The LNA, with neighborhood input, works with the Dallas Parks & Rec. Dept. (DP&RD) to determine a Needs Inventory List. This list is composed of prioritized projects (large and small) for park improvements. The DP&RD allocates the money they are given by the city and determines what parks are in most need of improvements, and allocates money for those improvements as they see fit.
For a list of the current Needs Inventory List online, please click here. You will see a map of the city. Click and drag the map to Lochwood Park. You will see a green dot. Click the dot and it will show, one by one, the current Needs.
